The album gathers some of the American composer’s most significant works, performed by Enrico Gabrielli (piano and bass clarinet), Sebastiano De Gennaro (percussion), Marcello Corti (trumpet), and Elio Marchesini (percussion).

The album takes shape as an exploration of Feldman’s aesthetics, built upon what critic Marco Moiraghi defines as “empty sound”: a sonic material that possesses depth even in the absence of mass, capable of vibrating through waiting and the dilation of time. At the core of the release lie the piano Intermissions of the 1950s—conceived not as simple pauses, but as radical disruptions of conventional flow, where sound is stripped down to a crystal-clear purity.

The program spans several decades of Feldman’s output, highlighting his nature as a deeply independent, anti-systemic musician. Moving from the timbral variety of The King of Denmark (1964) for solo percussion, it reaches the absolute fade-out of his 1980s works, such as A Very Short Trumpet Piece and Bass Clarinet and Percussion, presented here in a rare live recording captured at the BIKO Club in Milan.
